I sat down and thought “If I could be anywhere with anyone for my 60th birthday, what would that look like?” and the answer was simple…Watching the sunrise over Kenya from a hot air balloon filled with my closest friends an an African Safari. And so I made that happen. It’s called manifesting, baby. Look it up. 😉
Nairobi
Our African Adventure kicked off in Nairobi with a private elephant encounter for our group at Sheldricks Elephant Orphanage, followed by feeding the giraffes at the Giraffe Center, a visit to the Kobe bead making factory, lunch at the Karen Blixen (Out of Africa) Coffee Garden and then delivering school supplies to the Garden Children’s Home. Oh, and a cocktail party to end the day. And that’s just day one of our African Safari experience!
Shaba
Day 2 and 3 of our African Safari experience were at the Shaba Game Reserve. We enjoyed evening and morning game drives, a champagne bush breakfast and we ended our day with sundowners (cocktails) at sunset. Lastly, some of the highlights included monkeys at the buffet, baboons trying to break into our room, an afternoon massage at the spa and so many beautiful animals!
Lake Nakuru
Day 4 we spent at Lake Nakuru having the most amazing African safari experience! Every day just keeps getting better!
Maasai Mara
The next day was my birthday and it was an unforgettable 60th birthday for sure. We started with a hot air balloon ride over the Mara at sunrise followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush and ended with a cake and prosecco party with the Maasai dancers.
We ended our trip with 3 nights of “Glamping” in the Maasai Mara. The animals were breathtaking. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
